Subspace variational quantum simulator

Quantum simulation is one of the key applications quantum computing, which accelerates research and development in fields such as chemistry material science. The recent noisy intermediate-scale (NISQ) devices urges exploration without necessity error correction. In this paper, we propose an efficient method to simulate dynamics driven by a static Hamiltonian on NISQ devices, named subspace variational simulator (SVQS). SVQS employs subspace-search eigensolver (SSVQE) [Phys. Rev. Res. 1, 033062 (2019)] find low-lying eigensubspace extends it within with lower overhead compared existing schemes. We experimentally time-evolution operator hydrogen molecule. also define process fidelity measure between two processes subspace. time evolution mimicked shows $0.896\text{--}0.989$.
